Originally from Wales, Ellis graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2021 with a first class degree in English Literature. After being selected for Edinburgh TV Festival’s talent scheme, The Network, he began his TV career as a freelancer on various projects including a Euro 2020 documentary for Netflix, a Somali-language feature film, and an Alfonso Cuarón-directed HETV series.

Ellis joined Big Talk as a runner in 2023 before becoming executive team assistant later that year. In 2025, he worked as script coordinator on Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, David Mitchell and Robert Webb’s highly-anticipated new sketch show for Channel 4.
